As the days turn colder and a little shorter it is time for potatoe harvest. This year Amy and kids were up visiting and she remembered that it was about time at Grandma's farm to glean behind the harvesters. This year we went out and found the field which was a miracle because you don't get GPS signals with cellars and gravel roads. We took the directions from Grandmas Baker so we weren't even sure we could follow her direction. When we got there it was out past Shelley on the other side of the highway. We went to a row and the potatoes were just laying in a row. We couldn't see the harvester or tractor close it was way off. So the girls just thought they must have left a little in a row. So we just started filling boxes and bags then I thought this is way to easy. Why did they leave this little part of the row then I looked down the row and found the whole row was left and way off in the distance the harvestor was coming slowly eating up the potatoes in the row and bringing them up and away. We just happened to not understand the method of doing the rows and so we helped our selves to some very nice spuds. We didn't even have to search or dig for them. Lucky!!!
