Christmas in the mission field

We found an on sale Christmas tree and but it up two days before Christmas. It was wasn't anything special but it was our. We got a few treats from the store and made the traditional Christmas roll. We felt like we could handle Christmas alone without family. Then on Christmas Eve we were invited with the other two couples to the mission presidents home.  We had a wonderful dinner with them. We then came home and we got a call from Rob he said that he and the family were coming to Knoxville to visit and stay with us on Christmas. It was a very fun surprise. They arrived about dinner time bringing with them the dinner. We planned on one of the girls sleeping on the couch and Sarah volunteered. The rest went to a hotel and spent the night. The next day we went to Stars Wars at 10 in the morning. It was great. We remembered that about 50 years ago well almost that long ago we took Rob at about four years old to the first Star Wars movie.   The rest of the day we shopped a little and showed them the mission office and we found a little consignment store where I got an almost brand new pair of shoes for $15.00 and a new raincoat $15.00.  Great finds just next door to the mission office. I did not get to bring to many shoes or clothes. So I am out for a few more things. That evening we played games and then the girls went for a swim. On Sunday they went to church with us and then later left they left to go home. It was so great to be able to be with them on Christmas. To have them just four hours or so away from us. What a bonus for a mission. Literally our mission connects with theirs. We did get permission to see them and do the things we did. Couples don't follow the same rules as other missionaries. We might get to go to the Altanta temple when Maddie goes on a mission. She is putting her papers in soon. We had a great Christmas. Thank you for connecting with us while we are on our mission. It was good to talk to you and see your smiling faces. Keep up the missionary work.
