Last weekend the office couples went to the Cleghorn's home for a barbeque. The Cleghorns are a couple who live here in Knoxville but who are serving a full-time mission here. After the dinner we went outside on their patio to watch the fireflies. Their back yard backs up to a field and some trees. There were lots of fireflies. They are a wonder of nature that was a real treat to see. I would attach a photo but we can't get them to show up on cellphone cameras.
We visited the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge this week too. When we got there the lady at the desk recognized us as missionaries and excitedly told us how much they enjoy having the young Elders volunteer there. We didn't know they did but were happy to hear how much good they do. The museum is mainly centered on the Manhattan Project, which produced the nuclear bombs that were dropped on Japan in WWII that ended the war. Oak Ridge is called the Secret City and was built "over night" starting in 1942 and had the bombs ready by 1945. It all seemed amazing to see what they accomplished.
The best thing that happened to us this week, however, was that we had Ellen (the lady from the bank) over for dinner again along with the young Sister Missionaries. We had dinner and then we watched "Meet The Mormons." We then had a nice discussion with her. We are praying and fasting for her. She really needs the Church to cope with the problems in life that she has been dealt. She just doesn't know it yet.
